Reuters partners with Wibbitz to enhance multimedia news offering for publishers with automated, mobile-ready video

Sep 13, 2016

We’re proud to announce that Reuters, the world’s largest multimedia news provider, has chosen to partner with Wibbitz to expand their existing news offering with automated video. Reuters is the number one choice for publishers all over the world looking to access real-time images, text and video footage for their breaking news stories. As of today, Reuters News Agency and Open Media Express customers will also have access to readily-packaged video summaries, created by the power of automation. You can read the full press release here, check out TechCrunch’s coverage of the story here.

This exciting new partnership comes at a time when mobile news consumption is on the rise, and more than half of online videos are expected to be consumed on mobile devices by 2018. As soon as a story breaks, our automated video platform makes it possible to package Reuters’ high-quality news content into visually-engaging, socially-optimized videos – complete with captions, transitions and graphics – for international publishers’ audiences across devices. With support for over 20 languages, Reuters will use our platform to produce videos in multiple languages for each news story. The English Premier League will be the first topic of coverage, and videos will be available within minutes after a game concludes.

“Demand for news videos that cover trending stories for social and mobile use cases continues to grow for our customers and from their audiences. The speed and breadth of videos Reuters can produce with Wibbitz technology will provide our customers with captivating content when these audiences want it most.”
– Rob Schack, Global Head of Partnerships & Verticals for Reuters News Agency

Reuters is an innovative leader for the media industry at large, and this new partnership will allow us to explore how our automated video solution can further enhance their existing multimedia news offering. We look forward to working with Reuters to solidify their position as the world’s #1 multimedia news provider, and to find new ways to support international publishers with their digital video needs.
