Minutes to create a video with Wibbitz Studio

Bertelsmann is a media, services and education company with 8 different divisions, offices in about 50 countries and 119,000 employees around the world – each of which are connected through BENET, the internal communications portal for company news and important stories impacting the global Bertelsmann community. In 2018, the BENET editorial team launched a new version of the BENET app which centers on short video summaries of the daily news.

We introduced our new BENET mobile app at the end of 2018, and the feedback has been very positive – everyone likes that it is just focused on video content. These videos are very convenient and attractive to consume, and make it easy for our employees to learn about the hottest news in the Bertelsmann world, in a very short amount of time. It’s a project that wouldn’t have been possible without Wibbitz. Markus Harbaum Head of Internal Communications at Bertelsmann

Bertelsmann’s Video Story

Keeping employees informed through readily accessible, easily digestible content is essential for maintaining company alignment and connectivity – especially for a large, international, constantly growing business group like Bertelsmann.

For the last 20 years, their internal communications team has fulfilled this need through the BENET platform, where employees from different regions and divisions can go to catch up on the latest news, events and executive decisions impacting the company.

However, as BENET viewers’ mobile usage and demand for video drastically increased, Bertelsmann’s team realized they would need to revamp their internal content strategy to be more video-focused and mobile-friendly. So they searched for a solution that would allow their team to produce videos around every important story, in every main language spoken within their global teams, and make it as easy as possible for employees to connect with the greater Bertelsmann community.

Mobile Friendly

“Previously, the BENET app was basically the mobile version of our intranet, not really optimized for the modern use of smartphones. Now, it’s focused entirely on the videos we create with Wibbitz.”

Quick & Intuitive

“Only a few of us had video experience, so a single video could take hours to produce. Thanks to the intuitive nature of Wibbitz, we can have a video in 15 minutes, and are able to combine our own footage with the huge amount of content from their media library.”

Global Reach

“All it takes is a few clicks to duplicate and publish every video in German, English, Spanish, and French. It has never been so smooth to create multilingual content for the global Bertelsmann community.”

We’ve always worked to increase the amount of video content created for our employees over the years, but nothing compares to the boost we’ve seen since working with Wibbitz. Our whole team uses Wibbitz on a daily basis. It was the perfect gift for BENET’s 20th anniversary in 2018! Markus Harbaum Head of Internal Communications at Bertelsmann
